Kids Clothes Week Challenge Sept 20-26

I have never participated in something like this
so I kind of don't reallly know what I am doing.
Basically sewing at least one hour a day some
sort of kids clothing..
OK I do that anyway so might as well throw on
a badge and call it official!

LOVE THESE!!
After a little bit of messin around I came up with a super easy way to make the pants
I make now last a lot longer.. Starting with fitting Lola, they also fit Izzie and will soon
enough fit Fiona.. Wish I had done this a long time ago.. there are some pants I made Izzie
a while back that I still wish fit him...
anyhow... here's the trick... Elastic in back.. Drawstring in the front..
I know .. I know.. Doesn't take a genius...
Super easy.. should have made a tutorial but I was so busy 'thinking' and 'working' that I
totally didn't! Basically you make a pant how you normally would...
* make two button holes in front area.
*cut your elastic half or less than what you would normally use..
*sew drawstrings onto both ends of elastic
When you thread your elastic leave the entire front casing open thread just the elastic part
through the back.. sew the part where the elastic and drawstring meet into one side (seam area)
thread through the rest of the way and do the same on the opposite side.
Now thread the drawstrings through the button holes in front .. fold over the casing and enclose
the drawstrings. VIOLA!!

OK so this would help with pictures I am sure so I
will take some of the next pair I make and post them ....

off and ive been sewing like crazy.
plus i was out of town for 10 days.. so..

zombie crafts

I am nothing if not a total copy cat.
{ssshhhhhhh!!!!}
I long time ago I bought a shirt for one of the kids that
said..
"i heart zombies"
well..
it was super cute.. kinda pricey..
(but made by a SAHM so I bought it)
Now that it has been grown out of...
(still remains a hand me down for fionie)
I decided to just make a new one.
Finally figured out how the freezer paper stencils work..
(TOTALLY COOL!!)
it was a little bit tedious to cut out the letter.s...
did not have an exacto knife as recommended..
I used a leatherman supertool! Quite brave on my
part.. I have gotten more than my fair share of
bloody wounds from using a leatherman.
But... a bloody wound.. an I heart zombies tee..
kinda works I think.
Ok so no blood.
a cool shirt though!
AND I used some fabric paint that turned velveteen when
steamed with the iron..
it was rad!
SSSSTTTEEEAAAAMMMMM!!!
and
POOF!
velvety letters..
wow.. I don't pretend to even know how it works. its just neato!

starting a 6 week countdown
here are some pictures of what I completed this week

I don't know if you've all heard this little jingle as many times as I have...
it's catchy (kinda) and gets stuck in my head..
especially when little Lola sings it and will not stop asking for one.
... after seeing the commercials I know that I would like to
make her one but I am not good with 'on the fly' 'off the cuff' type things..
I need a pattern to insure not having to re-do a million times...
since the little peachs b-day is fast approaching I decided it was time
to figure this pillow person out..

I thought at the very best I would have to piece together tutorials on doll heads and pillow cases! She way outdid herself here and unknowingly answered my pillow(pet) buddy prayers :)

if I could make a comparison, please

i was drying my hair today and it struck me suddenly...
{my blog... is like that one scene in 'Hedwig and The Angry Inch"}

For those that haven't seen the movie..
You Are Missing Out.
Seriously!
even my husband.. who is grossed out by gay things
but in real life might have a thing for effeminate men
(I know this this because he GUSHES over Brain Molko- Placebo's Lead Singer)
totally loves.. or kinda loves.. or at least loves to watch this movie
and plays the song "Origin of Love" every time he is drunk ;)

any way it is a great movie.. in my humble opinion..
and getting off track here what I mean to get across
is that ..

there is a scene in the movie where Hedwig is playing
to a very small crowd.. in a deli.. the song is fantastic.
One of my FAVORITES..
however the only people watching are the few in the deli..
they're not really paying attention..
just having some coldcuts.. and maybe a sodee..

it occured to me that iam like Hedwig.
and ONLY in that way
(because I am not a transsexual punk rocker.. )

my blog is just one a a trillion..
and I only have 18 followers..and I think probably only maybe 5... or 3 of those
followers actually 'follow' me.

In some far off way I am like Hedwig singing to those 4 folks
having a bite of sammich.

OK-
I really having some sewing to do..Just had to get that out of my head..
its been swimming in there ALL DAY!!

Now that these have all sold and are about to leave my

the TUTU Sweatshop!

Ok ... I have 4 more to go..and I WILL FINISH them tonight
and have them in the mail in the morning..
if you've wondered why it's been quiet over here..
now you know why ;)
I am going to photograph all of them once I am done
and have them looking all pretty.. but for now here is a little peek!

Road Trip

Such a pretty place we found today.
Last time we tried to venture this direction Michael
got pulled over for speeding and we turned around
at the booth where you pay.

Today we drove right into or onto... this gorgeous little island.
turned out perfect... got some great pictures..
and ... then..
Izzie..
he didn't want to get out of the water..
(and getting into the water wasn't really the plan anyway..
but how do you keep these kids OUT OF THE WATER?!
You Don't.)
and so the next 45 minutes or so were hurtful to my ears.
but we made it back.. and it was a fun little trip.
having Michaels family here is really nice
I will be sad to see them leave.
